Forms, Data Visualization and Embeds

What can I embed on my site?

An embed displays content from another tool, like a form or dashboard, directly on a page. Visitors can use it without leaving your site. The most commonly used embed is a contact form.

The following embeds have been approved for agencies to use on their Drupal website.

Learn how to add an embed

Forms

  • Cognito Form
  • Google Form
  • Jotform
  • Leidos IQ Form
  • Microsoft Form
  • Smartsheet Form

Data visualization

  • ArcGIS
  • Power BI
  • Qlik Analytics
  • Retool
  • Tableau

Can I embed something else?

3rd party software

Maryland Digital Service will work with your agency to add other 3rd party software to the Drupal platform. All new embeds must be accessibility tested and then built into the Drupal platform as a new feature.

Custom agency tools

Agencies can add custom-built tools using the "Snippet" option in the Media Library. Snippets are applications built, maintained and hosted by your agency. The Loan Calculator created by the Maryland Mortgage Program is an example of a custom agency tool.

How to request a new embed

Contact the team you worked with to move to Drupal or email the Service Desk ([email protected]) if you'd like to request an embed not in the list above or if you'd like to embed your agency's custom tool.

Guidance

  • Be sure it looks good on your website. A complex or highly interactive tool may not look good on your website. The width of the embed is limited to the width set by the design of the page.
  • Test on small screens. Some tools are intended to only be used on a computer. Visitors using your website on their phone may not be able to use your embed because text, buttons or other features are too small.
  • Make the embed accessible. Anything embedded on your website must be accessible, adhering to ADA Title II. If you are unsure if your form or tool is accessible, request an accessibility consultation.
