5. Taxonomy

Taxonomy is the "tagging" system that organizes your content. Pages can be tagged with categories so that visitors can filter a long list of similar content, like a newsroom, staff directory, or events calendar.

6. Menus

The Menus is how to edit the header and its dropdowns, footer, and side navigation.

7. People

People is the list of all users that have access to your website. Learn more about roles and permissions.

8. Site Settings

Use the Site Settings page to manage basic site information, including the name of your website, the footer contact information and to set the homepage.

How to set up your site

These steps should be the very first things to do when your site is set up. These tasks must be completed by someone with the Site Manager Role.

  1. Create a Landing Page to use as your Homepage. Use the name of your agency as the page title.
  2. Update the Drupal Site Settings page. This includes:
    1. Name your site. This name will appear at the top of all pages in the header and will likely be the name of your agency.
    2. Set the Homepage. Drupal refers to your homepage as the Front Page. Type the name of the newly created Landing page in the Front Page text field.
    3. Set your agency’s address, phone number and/or social media links. These will appear in the footer.
    4. Optionally set the Affiliation. Use this if your website is part of a larger organization. This should follow the format “An official website of the <Agency Name>”. For example, the Affiliation for this website states “An official website of the Department of Information Technology”.
