Basic Terms
CMS
CMS stands for content management system. A content management system is software that website owners use to edit their sites. Drupal, Sharepoint and Wordpress are examples of CMSs.
Maryland Drupal CMS
Maryland Drupal CMS refers to the State of Maryland’s version of Drupal. Many sites across the web use Drupal, but the Maryland Drupal CMS is specifically designed for use by State of Maryland agencies.
Content
Content generally refers to the words, images, video and other information that is included on your website. In the context of Drupal, content is the pages and page components on your site. Each has a unique purpose, design and capabilities.
Micro-content
Micro-content refers to page components, which are building blocks that can be placed within a page. Examples include Accordion and Promo. These are not stand-alone pages; they are individual page components that can be reused across multiple pages.
Node
When editing pages in Drupal, you may see the term node. For purposes of managing your website, a node refers to a page. Each page of your site is a node with an associated number.
